November 2022 Newsletter - Issue No.1

Welcome!

Welcome to our first Newsletter from the Girls' Latin School Alumnae Association. We are excited to be writing to you and hope you will enjoy learning about our latest news and planned activities.

All GLS graduates are eligible for membership in the Girls' Latin School Alumnae Association. There are no dues. To join, simply register by clicking on the member log in box on our website.

We wish you and yours happiness and health as we begin the Holiday Season.

We're Making Connections!

The first connection made through our recently launched GLSAA website was between two women who had served together in the U.S. Army.

Another connection occurred through two members of an extended family who were surprised to learn that they both are GLS alums.

We recently heard of an unplanned mini gathering of GLS women that spontaneously occurred at a family reunion in Falmouth, MA.

Another instance occurred through a school parent/teacher meeting when a mother learned that she and the child's teacher are both GLS alumnae.

All of them now enjoy sharing their GLS experiences and growing friendships.

Members of the same or different graduation classes can find each other on our website. Registering on the website is the quickest way to find old friends from any GLS class. Register now and come together!

GLSAA Programs & Events

We are developing programs and events consistent with our mission and inspired by alumnae ideas. What is our mission, you may ask?

"The GLS Alumnae Association is dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacies of Girls' Latin School and of its alumnae."

All of us nurture a lifelong love to learn and explore new topics. We have heard clearly that you also wish to share your expertise in education and other important content areas. We also know you enjoy meeting up and having fun! We invite you to be part of developing our first round of programs: Speaker Series, Social events, and Tutoring where we will explore how to give back to the children in the City of Boston, continue our own informal education efforts, and gather a few times each year to foster what began all those years ago.

We will send you more information as plans are finalized.

Please share your ideas with GLSAA President Julie Glowacki, GLS '62 by email to jglowacki@partners.org

Tutoring Program

The Tutoring Program concerns ways in which GLS alumnae can help current students in the City of Boston. Many of our alumnae have been professional educators and have lots to share with students at all levels of learning. We seek a team of alumnae to help lead these efforts.

Speaker Series

The Speaker Series will offer thematic Zoom events with prominent authors & luminaries. We plan diverse topics, including GLS, Boston, education and more.

Social Events

We are making plans for in-person gatherings in 2023, beginning in the Spring. The first events will be in the Boston and Greater Boston areas. We can help alumnae in other locations to have regional events.
